REVIEW
CALEDONIAN C.C.

Haven't done a web site review for a while. I mean who wants to hear my opinionated waffle. So far my comments on other clubs website has resulted in everyone referring to "play.cricket" sites as "The Dark Side".

And so to a fairly recent site, that of venerable old sagepots, Caledonian. Now I've always liked Caley, especially their bowling (runs, yummy) and the fact that their team always seemed to contain an inordinate amount of professors and boffins. Now all that's changed with an influx of younger glamour boys like Andy McGeorge (pictured).

Suddenly Caley are a vibrant, comparatively youthful club again and this is reflected in their (shudder) play-cricket web site, which although weighed down with it's corporate blandness and frustrating navigation, still has a lot to offer, especially the match reports which are funny and enjoyably obsessive on the subject of Fiona.

THE GRADES
Nothing wrong with Marks original site but now in the hands of Portaloos Stephen Hall (ably assisted by TARIQ BUTT from Mannofield), the site has gone thru' a makeover and has more on offer (with a few other doodads in the offing!) Results and fixtures are updated almost instantaneously, there are pictures galore with the facilities to contribute your own. In short, a Godsend.

2ND BEST GRADES CLUB SITE (TO US!!!)

PORTCULLIS
The Portaloo website is funny, well organised and has heaps o' stuff on it. It's also home for The Evening League site, something I've overlooked for so long. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

 OTHER GRADES SITES

ABERDEENSHIRE

The Grade sides match reports have caused some offence to their opponents but The Brats still have a decent site. Very much in love with themselves, as you'd expect.

BANCHORY

Needs updating but at least it's not one of those awful fuckin' "play-cricket" shites.

CULTS

The site has been updated but it remains, essentially, as it was, which is good. Some good historical stuff on it and (finally) the second X1 gets a regular mention.

FRASERBURGH

Fraserburgh are on the web and their site has plenty of pics and info. Unfortunately, it's one of THOSE "play cricket" sites which means it looks like every other one AND is a nightmare to navigate (if you don't register).

INVERURIE

Very good site, well maintained and updated regularly. Pictures and match reports are always worth reading. Also, a good gallery of pics including a bunch from SCC game against The Bons in 2003.

KINTORE

The G1 champions have, at last, got a website! Thankfully, it's NOT a "Play Cricket" horror. Easy to use and improving every week. Welcome to The Web! One criticism...the news page is difficult to read because of the 3 column layout.

STONEHAVEN

The youngsters have taken over the site after the original was set up by Andy Wilson. There are some good photos (which I've borrowed occasionally) and there is enough interest for outsiders. Also includes updated Grades tables (the ones Stoney are involved in). Although (as with so many others) updates have been few and far between.

ACADEMY

It's a "play-cricket" site so it should be awful but thanks to Stevie Derrett's funny and "subtle" match reports, it's a hoot! There's also a good photo gallery in there (somewhere) although it looks like the FBIs 10 most wanted list.

CRESCENT

OH! Crap. Another "play-cricket" site. That means it ain't easy (enough) to actually find anything on it about Crescent. Once you do find out where the Crezz stuff is, it turns out that at least it's regularly updated.

ELLON

Now, thankfully, updated & upgraded and free of those annoying pop-ups that plagued the last one. Good look and feel to the new layout and worth visiting.

GORDONIANS

A brand new site. Not a "play-cricket" shite so therefore it's very good. In fact it's a funny, well set out effort that is highly recommended. Would've usurped Portcullis as the next best site in the Grades if I could be arsed....

QUEENS CROSS

Newest site on the block and still in development. Good news is it's NOT one of those shite "Play Cricket" whoors, bad news is it's full of Queens Cross stuff. (TEE-HEE, only joking, it's looking good). Seems to dwell more on the 2nd X1 at the moment....

STONEYWOOD DYCE

OH MY GOD!! Was once original and a labour of love (with themselves) but now they've gone and hopped on the "play-cricket" band wagon. Now shite. AVOID.

OTHER CRICKET SITES

GLENROTHES

Well established club who regularly do well in the Small Clubs Cup. Played against them once on tour with Westburn (R.I.P.).

ABERDEEN UNIVERSITY CRICKET

Even the Uni has a site noo. Unfortunately, it's a "Play Cricket" Poo-hole, but I did find some relevant stuff in it, which is rare.

CRICKET SCOTLAND

Good site for Weegees, Jute sniffers and Edinjunkies but coverage of us sheepshaggers is POOOO-ERRR! Preferred when our national body was the SCU and didn't sound like some advertising firm.
