Andy
Meres - creator of The Bons webzine
The Bons webzine is NOT an
official constituent of Bon Accord cricket club and,
consequently, any views expressed within are not representative.
The word anathema is an anathema. Started
in 1997, this UNOFFICIAL Bon Accord C.C. site was created by
myself (Andy Meres) with the express purpose of attracting players to the
club and to add a new dimension to the Bon Accord cricket
experience for it's existing players. The
site has reinvented itself many times since it's creation but
it's general tone has remained (fairly) consistent with an
emphasis on cheeky humour and much winding up, although none of
it intentionally malicious. Likewise the opinions of The
Grizzly Bore™ are
not representative of either the club or Mr Meres and are more
often than not the ramblings of a bag o' shite. Absit
Invidia, citizens. |

SITE
INFO
The site first appeared on the
Net in late 1997 in a VERY basic form. It wasn't the first
Grades site (Anchorians hold that distinction) but it was the
one that inspired the rest.
The 1998 season was the first
covered. Ironically, Meres was unable to play until near the end
due to major knee surgery.
Comments made on the site led to
the ACA releasing a statement warning web masters on site
content.
After continually slagging off a
junior cricketer's behaviour (on the site's then regular Junior
report), Meres was threatened with legal action by an irate
father!!
Bon Accord have attracted many
new players thanks to the site. Andy Win, for example, joined
The Bons largely due to it's quality.
The site is the most visited
non-professional cricket club site IN THE WORLD!! I couldn't
believe it either.
