The initial draft of the "Ban The Draw" proposal (drawn up by Bon Accord's Andy Meres) was uncomplicated but perhaps too simplistic.

The Draw Abolitionists were a short-lived group of "concerned" individuals who (in 2003) attempted to get a raft of rule reforms passed at the ACA AGM, the most significant being a proposal to eradicate the draw result from all league matches. Instigated by then Ellon Gordon C.C. captain, Steve Anderson, it was widely supported amongst cricketers across the whole spectrum of Grades clubs, but ironically, Ellon Gordon withdrew their support and, in fact, voted against the proposals and effectively scuppered them.

In general, the proposals were well thought out, but additional reforms (linked to the draw proposition, but not essential to it) over complicated what should have been a simple change and the sheer bulk of voting options was, in retrospect, a contributory factor in the failure to abolish the draw (although, it should be noted, that some elements of the proposals were accepted, the earlier start time of 1:00 for example).

There is still a groundswell of anti-draw protest in the Grades but another serious attack against the draw doesn't appear to be on any group or individual's agenda (for the time being) possibly due to a certain level of resignation and disillusion.
